WebMar 25, 2024 · You need to know for sure that the timing is at least close. Then while cranking the engine, key off, hold you hand over the carburetor intake and see if sucking air in. Then try spraying some starting fluid in there and see if it responds at all. I think that's vapor you see coming out of the carburetor not smoke. WebNov 24, 2014 · No, it doesn’t need to be 12v. Plenty of N’s start just fine on 6v in below 0* temps. Clean grounds & battery terminals are always important. Don’t forget to loosen the starter from the block (see tip # 36) and polish the block & all starter mating surfaces w/ sandpaper to insure a good electrical ground.

WebFeb 4, 2015 · It's possible you got a bad battery, but check all your connections for good, clean contact; battery cables, starter cables and wires, etc. It's also possible your starter or your solenoid or any of the other components of the starting system have gone bad. WebAug 15, 2013 · welcome 41-9N run a jumper wire from the hot side of your battery to the stud connector on top of your coil. install a spark plug in any one of your plug wires. hold the sparkplug against the head or block. crank the engine over , see if theres fire at the plug.
