WebNov 16, 2008 · When you plug a charger into the accessory socket you are NOT connecting it to the CAN-bus. You are connecting it to a controller that BMW calls the ZFE. The ZFE normally turns the accessory socket off (disconnects it from the battery) some number of minutes (varies from about 1-15 minutes on my '05 GS) after the ignition is turned off. Do a little search on this site and you will find hours of threads dealing with this issue and work arounds if you want to. This charger will work just plugging it in.
